LOINNIR 2011

In 2011 we planned another spectacular weekend of illuminated sculptures for the beach at Magheraroarty in North West Donegal. The first night was very successful with hundreds of people braving the stormy weather but we made the decision to cancel the second night due to heavy winds and rain.

Leading up to the Loinnir sculpture trail was week of children’s workshops led by local artists. The Loinnir show itself consisted of over thirty large scale illuminated sculptures created by local and invited artists and a variety of works from the children’s workshops. Entertainment included the usual live traditional music and dancing with a concentration on celebrating the beauty of this wonderful part of Ireland.

Over the years many local people have given their time and expertise to help make An Cosan Glas Loinnir a successful and enjoyable community project and we extend a warm thanks to them.
