Loinnir Sculpture Trail 2014 POSTPONED
An Cosan Glas wish to announce that the annual “Loinnir Sculpture Trail” show at Magheraroarty (Machaire Rabhartaigh) will not go ahead this year. We will however continue, as before to host a week of children’s sculpture workshops at Machaire Rabhartaigh and more info on this will be available on this site in due course.
The Loinnir night-time sculpture show has been part of the the Earagail Arts Festival since 1995 and has become a core part of the festival. The show constantly changes and live music, both traditional and contemporary has become an increasingly popular part of it. We want to acknowledge and thank the many visitors who have come from all corners of Ireland and abroad to see the show. Last year 3,000 attended the event over two nights.
We must also take the opportunity to acknowledge our local support as much of the success of the event hinges on local community involvement and many give of their time and expertise voluntarily.
The increasing popularity of the show has meant that the costs of running it have risen year after year and although our major funders responded positively to our request for increased funding for this year, the Earagail Arts Festival was unable to commit the necessary additional support. We have come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot create the popular night-time sculpture trail for 2014 but will instead put our energies into planning for an expanded event for Loinnir 2015.
Children's Workshops
As stated above, we will continue as before to host a week of children’s sculpture workshops at Magheraroarty. These will not be part of the Earagail Arts Festival and thus will not feature in its brochure. The workshops will run from Monday 30th June until Friday 4th July.
