Earth Festival 2014

An Cosan Glas Sculpture Project
in association with UCD

In 2013, An Cosan Glas in association with the UCD Earth Institute and the Earth and Natural Sciences Doctoral Programme, applied to Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) for funding a collaborative project linking artists with scientists to create an Earth and Environmental Sciences sculptural show in Letterkenny which could then tour other venues.

 

 

In February 2014, SFI Discover Programme granted funding. Further support comes from UCD Earth and Natural Sciences Doctoral Programme knowledge transfer programme which is funded under the Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions and co-funded under the European Regional Development Fund, Donegal County Council, Ealaín na Gaeltachta, and Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT).

 

 

An Cosan Glas artists have spent a week talking to postgraduate science students in UCD and will create sculptures inspired by their ground-breaking research.
In November 2014 during Science Week, the sculptures will be exhibited in Letterkenny Town Park forming the centerpiece of the Earth Festival, which includes talks, art workshops and tours.
