LOINNIR 2000
Loinnir 2000 took place on Falcarragh beach. Fergus Mulvanney, a renowned sand sculptor from Dublin shared his knowledge and skills in making sand sculpture and was joined by CaoimhghÃn O Fraithile, a sculptor from Limerick who worked with the children on the beach.
Most of the sculptures were made from sand, stones, and water, and by the nature of the material disintegrated fairly quickly. Sculptures constructed from driftwood, grasses and stones lasted longer.
In addition, Fergus carved a figurative sculpture in Falcarragh town based on a local historical character, Balor of the Evil Eye.
